In a recent report [1] , the Observatory for Success in Higher Education (ORES) presents tools to ensure that classrooms become environments in which each individual feels valued and supported in their learning journey. Here, the inclusive classroom is a way to value and support the success of all students. Here are some approaches taken from their work:

  • Teachers have the power to impact their role models, so they are encouraged to share their educational journey and acknowledge the challenges they have overcome.

  • Diversity must be reflected in educational content to highlight non-traditional paths and achievements of people from marginalized groups.

  • Mentoring initiatives, designed and led by minority students, promote inclusion by providing support and inspiring role models.

  • The diversity of assessments offered should be prioritized across the entire class. This allows for the recognition of different forms of intelligence and facilitates individual success.
